The information contained here is complex; but let me say that the lightning detection is really more of a 'storm' detection; in that all storm clouds generate IC lightning -- if we detect a lot of that activity; we can assume there is a good solid storm. Feel free to contact me for more information/explanation.

We are part of the "StrikeStar" network (Our ID is ANI) which teams together a network of detection systems to form a map of strikes throughout the USA and elsewhere.

No thunderstorms detected
  • IC: Cloud to Cloud strikes (most common)
  • CG: Cloud to Ground strikes
  • Data/images are uploaded about every other minute.
  • Discharge analysis files are uploaded hourly.

please note today (12 nov 09, until about 11am) has false storm readings -- these are interestingly (to me anyway) generated from me using a gas powered blower to clear my roof.
